Lotus Landscapes provide a wide range of commercial grounds maintenance and care services throughout the UK, to both public and private sectors. An industry where software-based technology has typically had slow uptake, Lotus needed a work management platform that could help plan, execute and analyse work out in the field. Increasing demand from customers for 'proof of service' was a further operational requirement from the board - a challenge we knew we could accept.
Building a company that goes the extra mile
In 2016 Lotus knew their mobile teams carried out work with unrivalled expertise, but were aware that their back office function was heavily reliant on paper and spreadsheets in order to get work done. The growing business understood the benefits that technology and digitisation could provide but were cautious in making the transformational leap. We knew that our partnership driven approach would deliver a work management solution that would exceed Lotus' - and their customers' - expectations.
A Partnership Driven Approach
Lotus were encountering the same challenges faced by many facilities management providers in the past few years - commoditisation of service, disingenuous competitor undercutting: the business knew that they had to deliver work in the most efficient way possible to remain profitable. Furthermore, Lotus knew that customer expectations were shifting and clients were asking for more - proof of service delivery being a critical request the industry as a whole was struggling to solve. We were confident that we could address these problems and more by building a complete solution for Lotus.
Developing a plan for today, and one for tomorrow
We spent time with Lotus understanding their unique work processes - both the way work was planned at the back office, and how it was carried out in the field. Our team helped design improved workflows for capturing data and managing work - equipping workers with handheld technology to carry out jobs seamlessly in the field. Back office staff and dispatchers were able to see the progress of work in realtime through our technology and Mobile App tracking.
Keeping ahead of the competition
Our rollout plan was developed in conjunction with Lotus' operations team and implemented across the business' Grounds, Landscaping and Arboriculture teams. Following the successful rollout, we worked with Lotus to develop an enhanced offering to their customers: a Proof of Service solution that is an industry first. We helped Lotus develop an NFC based solution that deployed tags to customer assets. Staff now tap visited assets to record service delivery. It's just one example of how our Work Management Platform can be extended to offer truly unique, compelling technology solutions to our clients' customers.
